32nd Legislative District Assembly candidate Katie Brennan is calling the recent Newark raid by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “a horrific abuse of power.”

“The workplace raids conducted by ICE are a horrific abuse of power that violate the Constitution. That a warrantless raid, and the detention of a veteran, could happen in our state is appalling, and it should serve as a wakeup call for legislators to take immediate action,” she said in a statement.
“Now is the time to come together as a state and show the Trump administration that this is not okay. These sorts of indiscriminate raids will not make us safer; they are meant to instill fear in our communities, all while stripping our friends and neighbors of their rights and dignity.”
Thursday’s raid has drawn scrutiny from Democrats across the state, including Brennan’s two June 10th primary opponents: Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, who said the local police won’t cooperate with warrantless raids, and Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez.
Brennan, who is running for a state legislative seat to represent Jersey City’s Wards C, D, and E, and Hoboken, added that this is another example of why the Immigrant Trust Act must be passed in Trenton.
“The New Jersey Legislature must immediately pass the The Immigrant Trust Act (S3672/A4987) to ensure that state and local resources are not weaponized for federal immigration enforcement. This is critical legislation to safeguard the rights and privacy of everyone who lives here,” she said.
“In the coming days, I will be working closely with local immigrants rights groups to collaborate on policies that will protect our most vulnerable communities under this Trump administration.”
This needs to be done that’s why I voted for trump if that city wasn’t so lax in the past we wouldn’t be doing this

I see most people on this post are saying to illegal immigrants to go back home. While I agree that they should try to come here through the legal system. What i don’t agree with is telling them to go back. If that’s the case then every white person needs to go back to where they came from.
