UPDATED: Authorities investigating fatal shooting outside BJ’s on Marin Boulevard in Jersey City

Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred outside of the BJ’s Wholesale Club on Marin Boulevard in Jersey City.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Jersey City Police Department are investigating a shooting with one fatality that occurred just before 8:30 pm in the area of Marin Boulevard and Second Street. More info to follow,” the HCPO tweeted.

According to police radio transmissions, the shooting occurred in the BJ’s parking lot, located at 396 Marin Blvd., and the victim was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center.

The vicim is also suspected of being run over by a vehicle before being pronounced dead at the hospital.

This is the second fatal incident in Downtown Jersey City on Sunday, as a single-car crash on Columbus Drive left the passenger dead and the driver in critical condition.

At 7:43 a.m. Monday morning, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released further information.

At approximately 8:18 p.m. last night, responding officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The victim, later identified as Christian Parra, 34, of Jersey City, was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Parra was pronounced dead at 9 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
