Zimmer honors outgoing Hoboken council members Castellano, Mason, Occhipinti

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer honored three outgoing council members at Wednesday’s meeting, presenting each with a plaque and a flag flown in their honor.

Hoboken 1st Ward Councilwoman Theresa Castellano has been a public servant for the city of Hoboken for the past thirty five years – over 20 years which were spent on the council.

She most recently served as a part of the Public Safety and Revenue and Finance Committees.

Castellano referred to her years of service as “a labor of love.”

Zimmer told Castellano, “One thing that I have always admired about you is the fact that you’re there for your constituents.”

2nd Ward Councilwoman Beth Mason was thanked by the mayor for her “work on the master planning process.”

“You really have set the foundation for so many things that we worked on together like 1600 Park [Ave.].”

Zimmer also thanked 4th Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti for his commitment to Southwest Park.

“As a 4th Ward councilman, you know how important the flooding issue is and you were a strong supporter of making sure that we got the pump done.”

Occhipinti served as councilman for five years.

Mike DeFusco will be replacing Castellano in the 1st ward, Tiffanie Fisher will be taking over for Mason in the 2nd Ward and former Assemblyman Ruben Ramos decisively won back the 4th Ward council seat in the November elections.

  1. Adios Mason and Castellano!!! You won’t be missed!!

Will Mason keep that huge staff around so they can write stuff for her still?

“Here’s a grocery list, and directions to the dry cleaner”

  2. what a funny heading.Team Zimmer deamonized these public servants through their toxic bloggers, campaign literature and other henchpersons. Her world is like Alice and wonderland if a story but real life, her tenure is a fraud.
