Another local demonstration against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is set to take place next weekend in Jersey City, again hosted by youth just like last week’s protest.

The “ICE OUT Jersey City” rally, described as a youth-led march for immigrant justice, is set to take place at the Grove Street PATH Station in Downtown Jersey City.
The demonstration against ICE actions locally, organized by the Jersey City High School and College Democrats, will commence on March 1 at 1 p.m. and those seeking to attend can RSVP at climaterevolutionnj.org/jcice.
Originally planned for Sunday, Feb. 22, the demonstration was postponed due to the anticipated blizzard.
“ICE OUT Jersey City is youth-led because we refuse to stay silent,” Jersey City High School and College Democrats Chair Janhitha Veeramachaneni told HCV.
“But this march is not just for young people: It’s for students, parents, grandparents, and neighbors. Change happens when every generation stands together. Protecting families and defending dignity isn’t a youth issue; it’s a community responsibility.”
Other supporters of the rally include: Climate Revolution NJ, Newark High School Democrats, New Jersey High School Democrats, Seton Hall University Democrats, Make the Road NJ, BlueTeens of Jersey City, Hudson County Young Democrats, the Jersey City Pre-Law Society, Ward C Councilman Tom Zuppa, and Ward E Councilwoman Eleana Little, among others.
“Adults are always so critical of our youth, that they’re on their phone too much, or that they don’t know how to communicate, but now they’re standing up for something they believe in and having a voice,” Zuppa stated.
“I’m very happy to support it. It’s youth-led, none of the politicians are involved that I’m aware of, and it’s nice to see that our youth are engaged on an issue that is divisive and they’re speaking out and they want better for their community.”
This is another example of youth speaking out against ICE in Jersey City in recent days.
Last Friday, there was a walkout by four local high schools which saw hundreds of students march to City Hall and protest ICE actions alongside elected officials including 8th District congressional candidate Mussab Ali, Zuppa, and Little.
“I’m proud to support the youth who are organizing this march. They are unafraid to stand with our immigrant neighbors against ICE’s brutality and authoritarian tactics,” Little said of Sunday’s event.
These are among many of the protests and other demonstrations speaking out against ICE, CBP, and other federal immigration enforcement agents across Hudson County over the past few weeks and months.
During the same time frame, municipal officials have take a number of steps to resist ICE actions.
Those include Jersey City strengthening sanctuary city protections, such as establishing citywide training and protocols for encounters with federal immigration authorities, banning the use of city property for immigration enforcement, and creating community partnerships for Know Your Rights outreach and legal support.
At the county level, Hudson County officials banned ICE from county property, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy and the board of commissioners established two committees to address the impacts on local communities.
Additionally, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office publicized its policy on federal immigration enforcement, as only HCV reported.

When are people going to realize that the more they protest, the more I.C.E. agents there will be in Hudson County. The more laws they try to create against I.C.E. will only bring more I.C.E. agents. The more you resist the worse it will be. The more attention you draw to yourselves the more I.C.E. enforcement there will be. It’s like that old saying goes, “the squeaky wheel gets the grease!” The only reason I.C.E. started to back out of Minneapolis is because I.C.E. got what it wanted from local authorities which was cooperation.
Nobody listens Anthony, nobody listens. I agree with you one hundred percent, the way you get by and survive in this world is minding your own business and trying to live in peace, not by being a rebel rouser and troublemaker. Maybe one day they will learn.
So, compliance, boot-licking, and ignoring the first amendment is the way to go?

DHS is using facial recognition technology…put mask on when you demonstrate. ICE use mask to avoid being targeted. Use the same logic.
