With the primary still over 12 months away, Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari says he’ll be seeking an unprecedented sixth term next year.

“With the steadfast support of my friends and family, I am proud to announce that I have made the decision to once again seek re-election as Hudson County sheriff,” Schillari exclusively told HCV.

“Throughout my tenure, I have worked closely with each of the county’s 12 mayors and my fellow county officials as well as the hardworking men and women of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office to improve public safety by reducing crime, increasing transparency, and bettering accountability. The challenges our community faces require experienced and dedicated leadership, which is why I am running for a new term to ensure that Hudson County remains a safe, thriving place for all its residents for years to come.”

Schillari, the first Hudson County sheriff to be elected to five terms, told supporters at an event at The Venetian catering hall in Garfield last night, sources familiar with the situation told HCV.

North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco, Guttenberg Mayor Wayne Zitt, Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli, Harrison Mayor James Fife, East Newark Mayor Dina Grilo, and Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), a candidate for Jersey City mayor, were among the electeds in attendance.

Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Anthony Vainieri, Assemblyman Will Sampson (D-31), County Commissioners Anthony Romano (D-5), the chairman, Yraida Aponte-Lipski (D-4), and Bob Baselice (D-8) Kearny Mayor Carol Jean Doyle, Bayonne Councilmen Loyad Booker and Neil Carroll, North Bergen Democratic Chair John Belluardo, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh, Passaic County Democratic Chairman John Currie, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and North Bergen Commissioner Hugo Cabrera showed their support as well.

Then a Hudson County undersheriff, Frank Schillari bested his boss at the time, Sheriff Juan Perez, for his first electoral win in November 2010.

He hasn’t faced a serious primary challenge ever since, securing the backing of Hudson County Democratic Organization each time, though there’s still a ton of time on the game clock since the 2025 primary isn’t until June 3rd, 2025.

  1. Frank’s unidentified clowns came to my building hitting all the bells and then banging on everyone’s doors around 6:00 am in one of their sweeps. Hoboken Police would later arrive as residents were frightened it was an attempted home invasion.

The County through Hoboken officials said all is well, “just doing our job.” Searching for a warrant scofflaw late on a divorce payment? No matter, we’re going to mess with every man, woman and frighten children across the entire building.

Biden’s America. More of this? No thank you, Frank.

    • Perhaps YOU are also “ a warrant scofflaw late on a divorce payment” or late on child support payments? The fact that you thumb your nose at Justice being carried out by law enforcement officers and then rope President Biden’s name here unnecessarily to score very cheap and unwarranted political points shows the thinking voter who you really are and why your ‘messiah’ Trump must be Soundly defeated in November. Take your racist, fascist, and self-serving views elsewhere.

      • Perhaps you’re just full-out ignorant, ok, you obviously are as an entire building of families being abused in the early am hours in pursuit of one alleged “scofflaw.”

Let’s see your defense of Gestapo tactics when they raid your home!

There’s a lot worse things Biden and his Obama handlers have done to America but abuse of law enforcement authority obviously ranks high on the list.

You clearly love fascism or the totalitarian left, perhaps both.

      • What happened to Americans’ civil liberties?

So all that’s required is some jerkoff like you shows up to make false criminal accusations and any jackboot Nazi or the KGB get to terrorize anyone and everyone looking for a scofflaw?

Really? In the United States of America?

That’s par for the course for Biden, Garland and Schillari.

  2. At the CD 8 Forum, candidates openly acknowledged that cleaning up the political landscape in Hudson County would be difficult. Not really – the solutions are pretty obvious. Do we have the guts to impose term limits on some of these electeds?

  3. Lots of Luck Mr Schillari Hudson county has never been better. If it’s not broken done fix it. I’m sure you have complete respect of all under you. The County has the best equipment well maintained and immaculate always proud when everything rolls through during a town parade. Proud to be your friend. Stay safe to you and all our officers. Respectfully J Rocco
