Union City officials name street after 89-year-old attorney, sewerage authority commissioner

Union City officials named a street after an 89-year-old attorney who also serves as a commissioner on the North Hudson Sewerage Authority on Friday afternoon.

Libero Marotta, corporation counsel for the Union City Housing Authority, had a section of 9th Street named after him at the end of last week.

He was joined by officials including state Senator (D-33)/Union City Mayor Brian Stack, as well as friends and family such as his son – Lee Marotta – corporation counsel for the North Bergen Parking Authority.

Others in attendance included Union City Commissioners Lucio Fernandez, Wendy Grillon, Maryury Martinetti and Celin Valdivia, as well as North Bergen Commissioner Julio Marenco and businessman Larry Wainstein.

  1. With all due respect to this man, this appointment only reiterates that the Commissioners of the NHSA are just unneeded window dressing and political patronage position.
