“Rob gets that as public servants, our number one job is to be responsive to the needs of our constituents,” Stack said in a statement.

“He’s a great friend to Union City and I will have his back and look forward to making sure he’s re-elected in November.”

The Hudson County Democratic Organization endorsed Menendez this evening ahead of a contested primary where Kyle Jasey, the son of outgoing Assemblywoman Mila Jasey (D-27), has declared and Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla is widely expected to run in the June 4th, 2024 primary.

While Guy had already expressed his support for the freshman congressman earlier this evening on Instagram, as HCV first reported, he doubled down minutes ago.

“As a newly-elected County Executive, it’s important to me that we have a champion for Hudson County representing us in Congress,” he stated.

“Rob has been a steadfast supporter of Hudson County and all of our municipalities who has helped bring back billions of dollars to our district, and I’m thrilled to support his re-election to Congress.”

Menendez announced re-election in late September, hours after Bhalla expressed an interest in running in the midst U.S. Senator Bob Menendez’s (D-NJ), Rob’s father, facing legal troubles.

A federal indictment charges him accepting cash, a car, and gold bars, among other things, in exchange for his influence, while a superseding indictment charged him with acting as a foreign agent to the government of Egypt.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and while he has hinted at running for re-election, turning up the heat after the HCDO endorsed Tammy Murphy, the wife of Gov. Phil Murphy, (D) this evening’s development could hint that won’t end up happening.

A new poll tested Bhalla, Ward E Councilman James Solomon, and Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez against Rob Menendez in the 8th District, but the results appear to be largely inconsequential now.
