State Senator Sacco discusses updated DNA bill that would aid law enforcement

State Senator Nick Sacco (D-32), also the North Bergen mayor, explained a newly reformed bill of his that would allow police to obtain DNA from criminals after an arrest has been made.

Sacco noted that crimes such as shoplifting and marijuana possession that statistically do not lead to violent behavior in the future are excluded from the latest draft of the bill.

  1. Thanks John for your good report of this timely subject. I applaud Senator Sacco for this bill and trust that only violent offenders would be subject to dna testing, and that said specimens would be strictly safeguarded. Though I believe O.J. did kill two people, the defense planted doubt in some jurors mind over at least one officer carrying arround dna(blood) in his pocket for hours.
