A 60-year-old Hoboken man has died from injuries sustained from being hit by a jeep while trying to cross the street last week, Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari announced. Hoboken police

William Rivera, 60, of Hoboken, succumbed to injuries sustained after being struck by a car at the intersection of Observer Highway and Bloomfield Street last Tuesday evening, January 3rd, Schillari said in a statement.

Rivera was in critical condition at the Jersey City Medical Center since he was transferred there by EMS on the night of the crash, authorities said.

The pedestrian was hit by a 2016 Jeep Compass that was heading westbound. The Jeep was driven Mirza Riysath, of Valley Stream NY. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with Hudson County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigators, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by crash investigation unit and no charges have been filed at this time, police said.
