In the midst of a deep winter chill, a seal was spotted hanging out in the icy Hudson River just outside The Waterside Restaurant in North Bergen yesterday.Â
A video sent to Hudson County View from Gus Shivas shows the seal briefly hanging out on a sheet of ice before diving back into the water.
“Our new friend on the Hudson,” he posted on his personal Facebook page.
The aquatic creature was likely a harbor seal, who is capable of swimming over 100 miles upstream into fresh water.
Waterside is located at 7800 River Road in North Bergen, right on the township’s waterfront.
