Former North Bergen Police Lt. Angelo Forese was presented with the Certificate of Life Saving Award for his instrumental role in saving neighbor Tomas Rosado’s life on December 3rd.
After returning home from a cheerleading exhibition, Rosado was stricken with an asthma attack. After using his inhaler without relief, he struggled for breath on his apartment porch while Teresa Pesantes, his fiancée, called 911, officials said.
His neighbor, Forese, overheard and intervened, guiding Rosado’s breathing while directing for emergency assistance.
He regarded the day as a team effort, acknowledging the crucial contributions of two firefighters, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Capt. Brian Barreto and Joel Pedroso, along with the paramedics.
Forese retired from the police force after 26 years of service last year.
