A 25-year-old Kearny man died when his car struck a tree off the Garden State Parkway in Little Egg Harbor, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Ryan Steel, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:55 a.m. this morning after his car ran off the southbound side of the parkway and struck a tree in Little Egg Harbor, Sgt. Jeffrey Flynn told the APP. First responders were trying to get him out of the car, where he was trapped after the accident.
Additional details are scarce, but the APP also reports that state police were called to the scene at 3:14 a.m. and Steel was in the left lane before being ran off the road on the right side of the highway.
Steel was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt when the crash occurred and the investigation of the fatal accident is ongoing.
