“I have had the opportunity to serve in both the public and private sector working with individuals from all walks of life. Tuesday’s election is critically important for so many throughout New Jersey because it will determine how we address educational funding, the creation of affordable housing, health care disparities and countless other issues that affect our friends and neighbors,” she said in a statement.

“I’ve known Mikie Sherrill for a number of years, and I am proud to stand with her and HCDO Chairman Craig Guy to do whatever it takes to get Mikie elected to be our next governor.”

Ramirez’s remarks, while not particularly shocking, do mark a bit of a paradigm shift since she unsuccessfully sought re-election on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” slate in the June 10th primary.

Alongside Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, she ran against a slate backed by the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), who also ended up coming up short against the eventual Democratic nominees: Katie Brennan and Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.

“It is long past time that New Jersey elected a Democratic woman to serve in the Governor’s Office and it is hard to imagine someone more qualified than an individual who served our country as a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot, a federal prosecutor, a mother of four and a member of Congress who has always prioritized helping those in need,” Ramirez continued.

“Mikie Sherrill is the best person for the job because she will stand against the chaos and adversity we find ourselves confronted with every day out of Washington D.C. and because the alternative is potentially catastrophic for millions of New Jersey residents.”

Sherrill is in what most pundits believe is close race against former state Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, who has the backing of President Donald Trump (R).

Election Day is on November 4th and early voting is underway through Saturday.

  1. Sorry, we are supposed to elect the right person, not because of gender or color! She is the least qualified candidate, she is the least transparent. She can’t answer how she made 7 million in stocks, and she said on day 1 she will declare a state of emergency to stop the rising cost of electricity, a governor does not have the power to do that! Jack will open power plants that murphy closed to lower electricity, a quick concise plan. Jack has the answers, she doe not! Vote Jack!
