Prosecutor: Woman’s death at Lincoln Park lake in Jersey City ruled a homicide

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is treating the woman’s death at the lake inside Jersey City’s Lincoln Park on Sunday as a homicide.

On Sunday, shortly after 7:30 a.m., the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office received a
report of a possible body found in Lincoln Park in Jersey City, Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Responding Hudson County Sheriff’s Officers found the body of a female victim in the lake in Lincoln Park and members of the Jersey City Fire Department assisted in recovering her body from the lake.

The woman, later identified as Caroline Cano, 45, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at
approximately 9:30 a.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that the manner of death is homicide.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.

No arrests have been made at this time.
