An unidentified Jersey City man was murdered on West Side Avenue yesterday afternoon, the first of two killings within a 24-hour time span between Friday and Saturday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Oxford and West Side Avenues on a report of an injured male, Suarez said in a statement.
The responding police officers found an injured man at 562 West Side Ave. and he was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:10 p.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office and his identity is unknown at this time.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department and no arrests have been made at this time.
This second fatal shooting in Jersey City occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. at 116 Randolph Ave., claiming the life of Rashaun Bell, 24.
