Yesterday at approximately 1:48 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck near the intersection at John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Montgomery Street, Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers found a 67-year-old woman with a serious injury to her lower body.

A preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit determined the woman was crossing between two stopped vehicles when the rear vehicle accelerated and struck her.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene. The 67-year-old woman was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. As of Thursday morning, she is in stable condition.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this incident.
