Prosecutor: Juvenile, 17, charged with fatal Jersey City shooting in Greenville

A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with a fatal Jersey City shooting in Greenville that occurred on Friday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

The 17-year-old male is charged as a juvenile with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested yesterday at a residence on Garfield Avenue in Jersey City. Juvenile matters are confidential and no additional information can be released at this time.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., on Friday, January 3rd the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road.

A victim – later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City – was located with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m.

Suarez credited the HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City PD with the investigation and arrest.
