Authorities investigating fatal Jersey City shooting that claimed the life of man, 20

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man last night.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. last night, the Jersey City PD was notified of a shooting in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road in Jersey City, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

Responding officers located a victim – later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City PD are actively investigating this matter and no arrests have been made at this time.
