Yesterday shortly after 10:30 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s
Office Homicide Unit arrested Michael Weathersbee, 25, of Jersey City, for the murder of
Laquan Clark, Suarez said in a statement.

Clark was shot multiple times while sitting in a car in front of 14 New Street early Sunday morning. Authorities identified the victim as Clark the following day.

Weathersbee was arrested at the prosecutor’s office in Jersey City without incident before being processed and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny, officials said.

He was charged with murder, possession of a weapon (firearm) for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and certain persons not to possess a weapon, police said.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey
City Police Department for the arrest.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined Clark’s cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the torso and head and the manner of death to be homicide.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
