This morning at approximately 9:40 a.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Percell Mallard, 38, of Jersey City, on charges involving the sexual assault of a female victim when she was 13 years old, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City without incident.

On November 18th members of the SVU were notified by the Jersey City Police Department about the alleged sexual assaults which began in October 2020 in a Jersey City residence.

Mallard was acquainted with the victim as a friend of the family and he was arrested following an investigation by the SVU.

As a result, he has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

After his arrest, Mallard was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny, pending his first appearance.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.
