Prosecutor: Electric bicyclist, 33, seriously injured in West New York hit-and-run

A 33-year-old woman riding an electric bicycle was seriously injured in a West New York hit-and-run yesterday afternoon, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

At approximately 12:23 p.m. yesterday, the West New York Police Department was notified of an electric bicyclist struck in the area of 50th Street and Bergenline Avenue, Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers located a 33-year-old North Bergen woman with serious injuries. She was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where she is being treated for injuries that are not considered life threatening.

The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene and a vehicle of interest has since been recovered.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the West New York Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
