Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office investigating man found dead in Passaic River in Kearny

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a man found dead in the Passaic River in Kearny yesterday evening, Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday at approximately 6:19 p.m., the Kearny Police Department received a 911 call reporting a man was found floating in the Passaic River in the area of Passaic Avenue and the Belleville Turnpike, Suarez said in a statement.

The Kearny Police and Fire Departments arrived at the scene and confirmed the lifeless body of a man had been recovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene and has not yet been identified.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The HCPO Homicide Unit and the Kearny PD are actively investigating this case.
