A Bayonne man was arrested yesterday in connection to an early morning sexual assault in Jersey City that occurred late last month, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Luis Burgos-Santos, 28, of Bayonne, in connection to a Jersey City sexual assault that reportedly occurred on Saturday, June 29th at an unknown location, Suarez said in a statement.
On June 29, at approximately 8:50 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department
responded to a residence in Jersey City on a report of a sexual assault.
Responding police officers received a report from a 25-year-old Jersey City woman that she was sexually assaulted shortly after 7:15 a.m.
The alleged sexual assault occurred at an unknown location in Jersey City after accepting a ride from an unknown male as she traveled from Hoboken to her residence in Jersey City.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the alleged sexual assault occurred on 16th Street in Jersey City and that the driver of the involved vehicle was identified as Burgos-Santos.
Burgos-Santos was arrested at approximately 6:00 p.m. at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s
Office in Jersey City without incident. He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, a second-degree crime.
After his arrest, Burgos-Santos was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny to await his first appearance.
The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion for pretrial detention of the defendant. A hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2019.
Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit for the investigation and arrest, as well as the Jersey City Police Department for assisting in the investigation.
The incident with Burgos marked the 4th sexual assault in Jersey City within a 48-hour time frame.
A week ago, a Jersey City man was arrested in connection to two of those three other incidents.
