A 62-year-old man was killed in an early morning hit-and-run in the Jersey City Heights near Christ Hospital, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

This morning, just after 1:30 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit responded to Palisade Avenue between Jefferson Avenue and Waverly Street in Jersey City on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, Suarez said in a statement.
The victim, a 62 year-old man, was pronounced deceased at 2:25 a.m. at Christ Hospital.
Investigators said the vehicle is described at this time only as a dark-colored wagon, similar to a Subaru Outback. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not remain on the scene, authorities said.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is actively investigating this incident.
