Sukhminder Singh, 59, of Queens, New York, was charged with criminal sexual contact and harassment, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.
Singh was taken into custody after a thorough investigation led to him being named as the actor in an incident that occurred on May 22, authorities said.
An 18-year old Bayonne female reported that she utilized Uber to transport her from Queens to Bayonne. While being driven home, the driver, later identified as Singh, began asking her questions of a sexual nature, officials said.
Without the victim’s consent, Singh began to touch the victim in an inappropriate and sexual manner as she attempted to push his hand away. The victim was able to stop Singh’s behavior and utilized her phone to attempt to record the ensuing dialogue, police said.
Singh then removed the phone from her hand and called his cell phone from the victim’s in order to obtain her phone number. Singh then arrived into Bayonne and the woman exited the vehicle, officials said.
She further told authorities that Singh called her cell phone several times between the dates of May 22 and May 29.
