Yesterday at approximately 6:42 a.m., a road rage incident was reported to the Secaucus Police that occurred on Seaview Drive, Miller said in a statement.

After that incident, Alberto Balcazer, who was working as a rideshare driver, was dropping off a passenger at a business located on the 500th block of Meadowlands Parkway.

Coincidentally, the other driver involved in the road rage incident worked at the same business on Meadowlands Parkway.

While in the parking lot of the business, Balcazer pulled his vehicle in front of the other vehicle involved in the road rage incident and stopped.

The two were engaging in a verbal dispute when Balcazer displayed what was described as a large caliber semi-automatic handgun, which he allegedly pointed at the victim before fleeing the scene.

The Secaucus Police Department Patrol and Detective Divisions worked collaboratively to identify Balcazer’s vehicle. Detectives then responded to his residence in Linden and conducted surveillance until his arrival back home.

During a search of his residence, detectives seized a .50 caliber Desert Eagle Magnum handgun along with hollow point ammunition. Shortly thereafter, Balcazer was placed under arrest.

“Although nobody was injured in this instance, I will caution the public that a simple road rage incident can turn deadly in a matter of seconds,” Miller said in a statement.

“I praise the investigative work of my detectives and patrol personnel, which directly led to the swift arrest and seizure of a firearm in this case. When you commit a crime in Secaucus we will come for you!”

Balcazer, 51, of Linden, was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and possession of hollow point ammunition.

As a result, he was lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Facility, police said.
