Sean Hill, 32, of Jersey City, and Hector Polidura, 36, of Bayonne, were both charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun) and possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Additionally, Hill was charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana.

Hill and Polidura were taken into custody around 6:59 p.m. last night from an undisclosed address on Linden Street. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of the Hyundai Santa Fe that was occupied by Hill (driver) and Polidura, officials said.

During the stop, officers detected a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle. Both occupants and the vehicle were searched and marijuana and five .38 cal bullets were recovered from Hill’s person.

While searching the vehicle for additional marijuana, officers located and recovered a Smith and Wesson .38 cal revolver from inside of the vehicle and both actors were charged accordingly.

The gun had not been reported stolen and it is unclear how they obtained possession of it, authorities said.
