A man was shot in the buttocks at Bayonne’s Stephen R. Gregg Park Monday evening near the basketball court, according to police radio transmissions.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m., with radio transmissions also indicating the shooting took place by the basketball court near the pond.
This is the first shooting in Bayonne this year though other details remains scarce at this time.
The Bayonne Police Department declined to comment late last night, citing an ongoing investigation, and this morning were only able to confirm that a man had been shot and been treated at the Jersey City Medical Center.
“At this time, as this remains an active and ongoing investigation by the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau, I will only confirm that an adult male suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center to be treated. No arrest has been made as of yet,” said Police Capt. Eric Amato.
