Rodney Hill, 35, of Jersey City, was charged with burglary, theft, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.

Hill was arrested around 12:20 a.m. after a resident on East 5th Street reported a burglary in progress. The resident confronted Hill while he was still in the house, causing him to flee towards Lexington Avenue, officials said.

The resident fell and sustained minor injuries while chasing after Hill, recovering a knife from the vicinity where he was running. Hill was detained by authorities on Lexington Avenue shortly thereafter.

Items stolen from the house, valued at over $4,000, included a laptop computer, an iPad, iPods and other electronic devices, police said.
