Police: Man charged with DWI in Hoboken after going wrong direction down one way street

A man was charged with driving while intoxicated in Hoboken after going the wrong direction down a one way street early Sunday morning, police said.

Jessey Asare, 25 of Lodi, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a one way street, according to Police Det. Sgt. Jonathan Mecka.

Shortly after 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, Officer Jason Montalvo observed a vehicle facing the opposite direction of travel. At this time, Officers Jesse Castellano and Michael Straten responded to the area.

While on scene, the officers met with Asare, the owner of the vehicle Asare. While speaking with him, the officers determined that Asare was intoxicated while operating his motor vehicle.

He was arrested, received the aforementioned summonses, and released to a responsible party, authorities said.
