Jose Guallpa-Bravo, 29, of Newark was charged with bail jumping and traffic violations early this morning, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

At 8 a.m. this morning,Port Authority police saw a white 2003 Hyundai with New Jersey plates traveling eastbound on 12th Street near Jersey Avenue, officials said.

The vehicle had a license plate cover over the front license plate making it unreadable. The officer pulled over the Hyundai at 12th & Manila Streets in Jersey City and a computer check revealed the suspect had an active warrant out of Jersey City, authorities said.

The warrant is from a prior arrest the suspect had for driving while intoxicated near the Holland Tunnel on May 27, police said.

Guallpa-Bravo was placed under arrest and posted $500 bail and must appear in Jersey City Municipal Court on June 30 at 9 a.m.

This is the suspect’s 3rd arrest within the past month near the Holland Tunnel.
