Police: Bayonne woman charged with assault for hitting man in the face with pot strainer

A Bayonne woman was charged with assault and weapons possession for leaving a man bleeding after hitting him in the face with a pot strainer, police said.

Jennifer Belle, 39, of Bayonne, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Belle was taken into custody at 3:37 p.m. on Friday from an undisclosed address on Islandview Court after being identified as the actor of an aggravated assault reported by a 30-year-old man.

Officers responded to a report of the said dispute, and while on scene, they observed the victim was bleeding from a laceration to the face.

The on-scene investigation revealed that Belle had struck the victim in the face with a glass pot strainer causing the laceration, authorities said.
