Michael Prather, 55, of Ruskin, Florida, was charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to possess weapons and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.

On January 4 around 7:04 p.m., Prather robbed the Bayonne Family Grocery, located at 269 Avenue B, after displaying a 4.5 millimeter BB gun, authorities said.

The suspect threw the BB gun into some bushes near the intersection of 48th Street and Broadway while fleeing the scene with a small amount of cash, officials said.

When apprehended by police, he was also found to be in possession of syringes.

While in custody, Prather was identified at the man who committed a robbery at 1030 Broadway on December 26, authorities said.
