Ruben Ayala, 36, of Hoboken, was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a minor passenger in the car, according to Police Lt. Janine Foy.

Ayala was arrested on Saturday at a DWI checkpoint at about 1:23 a.m at 1309 John F. Kennedy Blvd.  on Saturday, August 29, authorities said. Further details on the arrest were not immediately available.

The next day at 10:23 p.m., Jeremy Short, 26, of Jersey City, was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing his car near 79 West 38th Street, officials said.

Short was driving a four-door black Acura when he hit three parked cars near the aforementioned address, fleeing the scene of the accident after hitting the cars, police said.

After local residents provided a description of the car to police, Short was shortly thereafter found in his vehicle at an undisclosed location on Avenue B, authorities said.
