The Secaucus Police Department received information that a 24-year-old man, Nicholas Signorelli, engaged in a conversation with a girl who he believed was 14 years old via an internet based dating application, Miller said in a statement.

On April 5th Signorelli travelled to Walmart, located at 400 Park Plaza Drive, to meet the
teenage girl with the purpose to engage in sexual relations, but he was unsuccessful in that attempt.

Then, on April 8th, at approximately 8:55 a.m., members of the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division placed Signorelli under arrest without incident, after a follow-up investigation was conducted.

Since the Secaucus Police Department became aware that this internet dating application was used to lure a child, detectives from the Anti-Crime Unit, while acting in an undercover capacity, posed as a child on the dating application in an attempt to proactively investigate these crimes against children.

Shortly thereafter, a 34-year-old man, Nevil Rana, engaged in a conversation with a girl who he believed was 15 while also sending sexually explicit photos of himself.

Earlier today, Rana traveled to Secaucus with the purpose to engage in sexual relations with the underage girl. At approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit placed Rana under arrest without incident.

“Although the agreed upon meeting location was the only nexus to Secaucus, the Secaucus Police Department will exhaust all our resources to protect children and remove these predators from the street. I am very thankful that no child was victimized,” Miller added.

Signorelli, 24, of Springfield, was charged with luring and enticing a child.

Meanwhile, Rana, 34, of Wallington, was charged with luring, enticing a child, criminal attempt to endanger the welfare of a child, and obscenity for persons under 18.

Both suspects were processed and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
