The NBPD responded to the area of 73rd Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. this afternoon on a report of a man suffering a crisis situation who needed medical attention, according to Deputy Police Chief David Corbisiero.

Upon arrival, officers found that the 54-year-old man was emotionally disturbed, with Corbisiero noting that he appeared to have split personality disorder since he consistently referred to himself by two different names.

The Hoboken Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit was called out of an abundance of caution and still had three officers on the scene as of this writing, the deputy chief told HCV.

“He needs some help and we’re just trying to get it for him basically,” Corbisiero added.

Commuters and residents are urged to avoid the area, as the NBPD tweeted about an hour ago.
