A 19-year-old was pistol whipped on the head, causing the gun to fire, after an attacker broke into his Bayonne home on Saturday, police said.

Around 3:36 a.m. on Saturday, the 19-year-old Bayonne resident told police that someone broke into his Avenue C home while he was asleep, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.
The victim reported to authorities that after he woke up, he was pistol whipped on the head, causing the gun to fire.
The teen suffered minor injuries that were treated at the Bayonne Medical Center and the incident remains under investigation, officials said.
