Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2) is calling for Jim McGreevey’s nonprofit to be investigating after sending a mailer to registered voters only to promote a job fair, what he says is a clear tactic to try and promote his mayoral run before Election Day.

“This mailer is an obvious case of Jim McGreevey misusing his nonprofit to promote his campaign for mayor, and in the process hiding his donors from the people of Jersey City in violation of election law. The people of Jersey City deserve to know who paid for this, was it Charles Kushner or another McGreevey donor?” O’Dea said in a statement.
“He has exploited this nonprofit which he started only after he decided to run for Mayor to promote himself. Shame on McGreevey for once again gaming the system for his own personal benefit, just like he has consistently done over and over again throughout his career.”
Additionally, the veteran county commissioner, who has been on a warpath against McGreevey and Ward E Councilman James Solomon, another mayoral opponent recently, says this tactic is a clear violation of state election laws.
Furthermore, he is demanding that McGreevey reveals who is donating to the nonprofit group, and thus being hidden from public disclosure before the election.
“The Jack and Ronnie McGreevey Civic Association is dedicated to serving persons who are from Jersey City and Hudson County or, at one time, resided in those communities. The purpose of the Civic Association is to serve three distinct populations: (1) persons in distress and need of immediate care; (2) those home-bound veterans and seniors requiring visitation and support; and (3) children and adolescents who require ongoing support for their academic and athletic pursuits,” their website says.
“The Civic Association also seeks to recognize those Jersey City and Hudson County residents who have dedicated themselves to serving the community and achieved success in their respective profession.”
McGreevey and his campaign did not return an email seeking comment.

The South Hudson Civic Association which is an O’Dea outfit, is literally the same thing: a front for political contributions to be laundered anonymously into patronage and bread and circuses to buy votes.
Oh please, the HCDO throwing stones.
I started tossing his “Civic Association” crap after the one aimed at seniors that had eating tips for healthy digestion. That’s not really what I look for in a Mayor.
Numbers are rolling in against you Billy, gotta come up with something, like the song goes,
ALL WE EVER HEAR IS BLAH BLAH BLAH!
I can’t believe with Mcgreevy’s political track record…….anyone would trust him and vote for him for ANY office let alone the mayor of this great city!!!!!?!????? I haven’t forgotten how ashamed I was of a corrupt Jersey native who resigned as Governor !!!!!!! And continued his shame in other elected offices around the state! Wake up people 😠🙈
