Adoni, whose real name is Julio Adoni Gross, received the proclamation from state Senator (D-32)/North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco at North Bergen Town Hall.

The proclamation recognizes Adoni for “setting a standard of excellence toward which all others may strive,” and “pays tribute to his meritorious record of service, leadership, and commitment.”

When Adoni resided in his home of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, he enjoyed composing music. He eventually immigrated to America and started working in a factory where many Dominicans performed house parties on their days off.

He has been playing for more than seven years and has become the Dominican Republic’s most listened to DJ, winning a Premio Lo Nuestro Award for DJ of the Year in February.

Assembly members Pedro Mejia and Angelica Jimenez (both D-32), as well as Commissioners Hugo Cabrera and Julio Marenco, also participated in the event.
