Dalia, who was elected as part of the “Your Children’s Future” team in April 2021, was vacated from his post due to formal action from NJ SEC Chair Robert Bender. The removal was made official at Wednesday’s West New York BOE meeting.

“What they do, there are four different penalties: a reprimand, censure, suspension, or removal from office,” BOE President Adam Parkinson told HCV over the phone.

“He hadn’t shown up to school board meeting for quite some time, but the school board respected the will of the voters in 2021 and did not feel it was our place to remove him. We wish him all the best and we appreciate his service to the school district, but ultimately the SEC ruled that he would be removed.”

Parkinson added that the volunteer post on the nine-member governing body will be advertised and candidates will then be considered at their next meeting, which is set for December 7th at 6 p.m. at West New York Middle School – 201 57th St.

Dalia could not be reached for comment on Friday.
