A man armed with a knife was arrested in front of St. Peter’s University in Jersey City after “displaying menacing behavior,” city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said.

At 1:02 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call reporting a crowd at St. Peters’ University, she wrote in an email.
“Upon arrival, officers determined an emotionally disturbed male possibly armed with a knife was displaying menacing behavior,” Wallace-Scalcione explained.
“Numerous JCPD units responded and the male was arrested after a brief negotiation with police. No injuries were reported. Charges are pending.”
Alavaro Rodriguez, 38, was arrested and is still currently being processed, Wallace-Scalcione added.
