Dear Editor,

On November 7th, please vote for the Education Matters Team, Dr. George Blount 3D, Alpa Patel 4D, Dejon Morris 5D for Jersey City Board of Education.

Our candidates bring a unique perspective and plan to the field in hopes of creating a more transparent & stable Board that focuses on the issues and works with all stakeholders to better our schools & school community for our youth.

The Education Matters Platform focuses on *CTE (career training & placement), *Improving Infrastructure, and *School Safety/security/mental health.

Dr. George Blount 3D, an educator who has successfully run many businesses including his career & training program hopes to bring in more career/trade training opportunities to our young people so that they may be exposed to a variety of options that ignite a passion in a trade or career & that they may be given the training, tools & support to achieve that goal.

Alpa Patel 4D – an active community advocate in Jersey City with a science degree & background.

Alpa’s goal is to use the many networks & community connections that she works with on a daily basis to provide more opportunities & funding to creatively improve & better our facilities & infrastructure.

She also hopes to bring a sense of balance to the Board to bring stakeholders together to work together where they can.

Dejon Morris 5D – a decorated 19 year Jersey City Police Detective & community advocate who hopes to hit the ground running with ideas and to improve the security of our schools to deal with and prevent safety problems that occur in our changing world.

He also hopes to use the various community connections & agencies that he works with on a daily basis to provide more resources for our young people to keep them on the right track & not fall into negative behaviors.

He feels mental health is a priority that must be put first & foremost for the children of Jersey City.

The balance & various focuses & perspective of the Education Matters Team will bring forth more stability.

Transparency, & productivity to our board to not only make it more accessible to parents, students & community.

Sincerely,

Mike Greco
