“[J]ust across the river from Manhattan, this hilly city is one of the most densely populated cities in the nation. Many come to live here to have an easy commute to their work in the Big Apple, while residing in the safety of North Bergen Township,” the website wrote about their 23rd ranked on the list, the sixth highest ranked municipality in New Jersey.

According to SafeHouse, they gave each municipality a safety score based on 2018 FBI data from 13,366 law enforcement agencies of cities with populations of 50,000 or more.

“Our continued commitment to the NBPD crime control strategy of community policing coupled with technology such as Compstat, hotspot mapping, and other technologies are a recipe for our continued success and low crime,” the North Bergen Police Department wrote on social media in response to the list.

Bayonne came in at the very next entry, number 24, West New York made an appearance at number 38, Union City received recognition at number 82 and Hoboken was ranked number 90.

None of the Hudson County municipalities had any data analyzed pertaining to violent or property crime trends, according to the SafeHouse rankings.
