“I am excited to join Joyce Watterman’s team as we work together to address the needs of our community and bring positive change. Our shared values of progress, and community engagement will guide us in this mission,” he said in a statement this morning.

Jeter first filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission on July 7th, as only HCV reported, making it a month before he decided to team up with a mayoral candidate.

Also an adjunct sociology professor at NJCU, where he is also a member of the President’s Community Advisory Council, Jeter joins Rev. Tami Weaver-Henry and Kenny Reyes on Watterman’s slate.

His decision comes six days after Dave Carment, who announce he was seeking an at-large seat with Watterman’s support last summer, decided to run for the Ward A council seat instead.

“Floyd’s expertise and passion for serving our community will be invaluable as we move forward in this campaign. I look forward to working together to create a better future for all residents,” the council president added.

That crowded Jersey City council-at-large field has Israel Nieves, Meredith Burns, and Jennise Sarmiento running with Jim McGreevey; Mamta Singh, Michael Griffin, and former Council President Rolando Lavarro are on Ward E Councilman James Solomon’s slate; with Councilman Danny Rivera, Kristen Zadroga Hart, and Saundra Robinson Green a part of Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s (D-2) team.

Additionally, Tina Nalls and Ira Guilford have been announced as at-large running mates for former Jersey City Board of Education President Mussab Ali for the non-partisan November 4th contest.
