The City of Jersey City, through their Division of Parking, will be bringing back street sweeping on Monday for most main streets – through school parking lots will still be available for residents to use free of charge.

“We’re committed to protecting our residents as we work through these challenging times and that includes maintaining quality of life, which is why we’re starting to redeploy street sweepers to clean the unsanitary conditions we’re seeing along our roadways that are littered with plastic gloves, masks, and other trash,” Mayor Steven Fulop said in a statement.

“We have been thoughtful on this issue since day one, and we’re asking for community cooperation amid our efforts to keep everyone safe and healthy.”

Parking rules for meters, zone permits, and driveway painting will remain suspended until further notice – with enforcement for safety violations, such as blocked fire hydrants, remaining in place, said city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.

Drivers can access all parking information in real-time on the Parking Division’s Twitter page and their website.

Jersey City suspended their parking regulations on March 20th due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the exception of one week earlier this month.

In addition to the suspension of parking rules, the city is providing increased public parking at over 30 school lots opened throughout each corridor of the city for residents to park their vehicles during the State of Emergency.
