“On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at around 6:45 am, a hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of North Street and Webster Avenue. The vehicle involved was a grey SUV. Anyone with information is urged to contact us at meerajaffrey7@gmail.com_or directly reach out to my council office,” Saleh wrote in a letter to Ward D residents.

“If you reside in the vicinity of this location, please review your security cameras. In Ward D, we are a family, and we must look out for one another. We deeply appreciate any information you can provide to ensure justice prevails.”

He continued that his office has made pedestrian safety a priority, adding new stop signs, speed humps, flashing beacons, and other roadway enhancements, along with pushing for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations – particularly near this intersection.

“We ran a study along North Street between Central Avenue and Webster Avenue and will be providing a detailed update as to next steps to make this road safer,” Saleh added.

“Should you have suggestions regarding roadway safety improvements, or if identify hazardous intersections, please let me and my Council office know so that we can work with you and our Division of Traffic and Engineering. Your input and feedback are invaluable and can make a significant difference in saving lives. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.”

A city spokeswoman did not immediately return an email seeking further information about the incident.

  1. These people that have moved to New Jersey are driving crazy, especially on Palisade Ave. They don’t let people cross. They racing down the streets. This is not New York OR WHERE YOUR USED TO .Respect the pedestrians or lose your driving privileges. THE LAWS SHOULD BE MORE STRICT.
