Today at approximately 9:57 a.m., the Bayonne PD responded to the Shemin Midtown School, located at 550 Avenue A, on a reported threat being called in, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Officers immediately conducted an investigation into the threat and determined it to be a swatting incident, therefore, at no time was the safety of any student, faculty member, or general public at risk.

The incident remains under investigation by the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau.

“Again, there is no threat to our school at this time and as a precaution the Bayonne Police Department checked the area for any suspicious persons or packages. As always, any threat is taken seriously and we are confident that the perpetrators of this hoax will be caught by law enforcement,” Bayonne Superintendent John Niesz wrote in a letter.

“We thank Police Chief Geisler and the Bayonne Police Department for a rapid response and a quick resolution to this incident. As always, the safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priority.”
