Citing Mayor Fulop’s record of supporting collective bargaining rights and standing up for working families, the unions endorsing include Teamsters Local 641, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, Teamsters Local 2906 and Teamsters Local 3082.

“The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is America’s largest and most diverse union, and having the support of these hardworking men and women is a testament to our campaign’s commitment to putting the interests of working families front and center,” said Fulop said in a statement.

“I’m so proud to see our coalition continue to build and more and more impactful leaders join our campaign because they believe in our vision of moving New Jersey forward.”

The New Jersey Council has also expressed their support in Fulop for governor.

The support from multiple transportation focused unions is based on his policy background on mobility issues and his commitment to investing in NJ Transit and providing greater transportation options.

“Teamsters know how important it is to have strong partners in elected office, and with his long record as a public servant and consistent support for working families there is no one we can count on more as our next Governor than Steve Fulop,” noted Local 641 President Jim Kilkenny.

Their union represents workers in trucking, warehousing, 911 dispatching, parking lot attending, refinery work and other industries.

The Fulop campaign picked up the endorsement of Warren County Democratic Chairman Tom Palmieri last week, who joined Hudson County Democratic Chairman Anthony Vainieri in pledging his support.

“Steve Fulop understands that investing in public transportation is the best way to support our economy and create more opportunities for the middle class, and the members of our union are excited to stand strong with him and help him all the way to Trenton,” added Vice Chairman and State Legislative Director of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division Thomas Wohanka, which represents Amtrak maintenance workers.

Fulop has also been endorsed by several mayors representing communities with NJ Transit stations who have noted his experience and vision when it comes to transportation issues.

They include Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, South Orange Mayor Sheena Collum, Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, Summit Mayor Nora Radest and several others.

“The commitment that Steve Fulop has shown for funding public transportation and especially for identifying a permanent recurring revenue source for NJ Transit makes it clear that he’s the right choice to lead New Jersey forward as our next Governor,” explained Local 2906 Vice Chairman and Local Legislative Delegate Frank Parell, whose union represents NJ Transit maintenance workers.
