Restaurant owner Vinay Kumar Ankum, who has spent several years living and studying in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, is sponsoring this charity event to help Ukrainian Jersey City raise funds for the purchase of an ambulance, generators and more.

On Giving Tuesday, Ukrainian JC is asking for donations specifically for ambulances, they noted on their Facebook page.

“Help us save lives! By providing medical vehicles to heavily hit areas in Ukraine, UJC helps get injured people to medical facilities to get the critical care they need as soon as possible,” the group wrote.

Dignitaries confirmed for Thursday’s event include Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Norma Fernandez, Board of Education Trustees Noemi Velazquez and Natalia Ioffe, Hudson County Clerk E. Junior Maldonado, educator Kristen Zadroga-Hart, and Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.

The event is open to all and guests can purchase tickets online or at the door.
