Jersey City Democratic Organization Chair Barbara Stamato is joining state Senator (D-33)/Union City Mayor Brian Stack in calling for the June 12th vote to elect the next chair of the county Democratic party to be held in Jersey City.

“It is my hope that Amy DeGise will publicly stand with me in calling for the upcoming reorganization meeting of the HCDO to be held at a location in Jersey City,” Stamato said in a statement.

“As Amy knows, the plurality of Committee Members reside in Jersey City and participation by members should be encouraged. As Amy has touted the importance of Jersey City, it is imperative that she shows independence in this matter and ensures that the Committee Members of Jersey City will not be discouraged from attending.”

Amy DeGise, a Jersey City Board of Education trustee and the daughter of Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, is challenging Stack to succeed Vincent Prieto, a former state Assembly Speaker, as the next chair of the HCDO.

Yesterday, Stack said it would be “shameful” if the vote was ultimately held in West Hudson, with many sources indicating Kearny High School was the most likely location.

Amy DeGise could not immediately be reached for comment, but this story will be updated in the event comment is given.

  1. Nepotism is trying to put your unqualified daughter a position of power.

After all the years in power couldn’t Tommy D find anyone else he could trust to take orders other than his daughter Amy ?
